Company Description

We represent our client, a public-listed Investment Bank. In line with our client’s current expansion plans, our client has the following position to be filled :-

Group Financial Controller
Based in Kuala Lumpur

Responsibilities:

1. Member of the Management Team and to add Value to Decision Process
  • To highlight the financial implications of proposals and business decisions and impact on the IMD/ FMD, risk management and pertinent areas.
  • To interpret trends, positions and situations to give insights and to add value to the management decision process.
  • It is important that the GFC develops a deep understanding of the underlying businesses of the SBG and a close working relationship with the management at the SBG and Ocs in order to forge a meaningful and contribution role.
2. Financial Controllership over the Company’s assets/ business
  • To undertake risk assessment (including ERM) and risk impact studies on the operations of the SBG and highlight risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Balance Sheet Management under IMD and FMD – ensuring that the asset and liabilities are deployed efficiently and judiciously, giving optimal return to the shareholders. In particular, to monitor the working capital management and credit control and to ensure strict compliance to FMD.
  • To undertake Capex and Investment assessment, implementation review and to conduct post-CER and Investment reviews to ensure that the purpose and financial returns as proposed have been realised.
  • Budget Management and Controllership – to ensure that the business plan and budget is in line with GIMP, verifying the underlying assumptions to be realistic and achievable and to monitor for feedback to management on budget performance.
  • To vigorously ensure that the system of internal controls is updated and appropriate and in line with industry best practices.
3. Advocates for the Group Programmes and Custodian of Policies, Rules and Regulations
  • To understand and implement Financial Management Excellence under the IMD, FMD and other management programmes, customizing programmes and initiatives to create and sustain Financial and Operational excellence.
  • To assist the GMD in the planning towards 21st Century.
  • To take an active role in the formulation and be responsible for the compliance and enforcement of the Group’s Policies, Rules and Regulations and the Company’s standard operating policies and procedures ensuring some are in line with industry’s best practices and the relevant regulatory bodies.
4. Be a profit Source

To understand that the Finance position is a profit source through:-
  • Effective analysis and information. Beyond ensuring integrity and timeliness of the information, to establish a Management Information System that informs the user, highlighting the nuances and perspectives for meaningful decision-making.
  • effective controllership and cost control under SOP
  • effective planning (including tax planning)
  • effective treasury and cash management
  • effective bank relationship management
5. Leadership
  • To provide leadership to the FMs in the SBG and to identify, groom and develop effective financial personnel in the SBG
Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or its equivalent
  • Must have Professional Academic Qualification - Certified Public Accountant or MIA
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Accounts or Audit Related field, preferably in the Financial Industry
  • Minimum 8 years of supervisory experience
  • Must be fluent in English and preferably Chinese
